History

1987

The FSAE Racing Team at Cornell was born in 1986. Professor Albert R. George became the faculty advisor and about a dozen mechanical engineering students hit the books and designed a racing car from scratch. In 1987, the first racecar was completed, developed, and raced. The team took an impressive third place finish out of approximately thirty cars that had entered the competition that year. Cornell was awarded Rookie-of-the-Year honors and gained the confidence and respect needed to charge into the next season.
